Thanks and I accept your solution and would it be a problem to e-mail me and tell me where is the plate that should be soaked? Is the boost light in any way connected to the air flow? They both went at once.By the way, I am a 70 year old woman but I have always been good at taking things apart although I don't always get them fixed. jodee@hotmail.com

On this model both sides should come apart. The ioniser plate is glass with metal in it. Soak in dishwashing liquid sollution and rinse thorothly with fresh water and dry completely. clean the contacts that attaches to with a emory coth or very light sand paper. While you have apart inspect all wire connections and if you see a pc board look for any burnt marks. I could not access your email but mine is eboukater@gmail.com.

I just bought a used 880 and when running I see small "sparks" from the plate behind the fan. It looks like the spark you get when using a battery powered fly swatter. That is the best way to...

DO NOT RUN THE MACHINE WITH THE DEFECTIVE PLATE! The sparks indicate that the plate is either defective, wet, or dirty. You can try cleaning the plate, then inspecting it for flaws.
The plates (4" white ceramic squares with screen glued to center of each side) must be clean and inserted correctly.
1) Soak the plates in equal parts plain ammonia/water for 5 minutes. Scrub gently with a toothbrush or small veggie brush. Rinse well. Blow dry or air dry. DO NOT use a towel or paper to dry it off. Avoid touching the screen with your fingers.
2) Inspect the plate carefully for cracks, discoloration, broken wires, loose mucilage, burned areas, or visible dirt or bug parts (!). If the plate is flawed or corrupted, you need to order a new one from Vollara (formerly EcoQuest/Alpine) at 800-989-2299. Use #16618 for the referral number.
3) Clean the metal fingers with a cotton swab and alcohol.
4) Insert the plates firmly, making sure they go in on the tracks, and that the contact fingers rest firmly on the screen part.

The little flickering light is simply an indicator of power, and is normal.

Do I soak the rci target plate in ammonia with the purification plate?

No, just rinse the RCI target with warm water. Allow it as well as the purification plate to dry completely before reinstalling into the purifier. You can speed up the drying process using a hair dryer at a low heat setting. Hope this helps you.

My Apline Living Air does not create any ozone. The fan runs but the green light only turned on once.

Are the plates cleaned? They should be cleaned once a month by soaking in 1 part amonia and 1 part water for 10 minutes. Scrub with a toothbrush and rinse throughly with water. Allow the plate to dry overnight or use a hair dryer to dry throughly. Hope this helps.

Bought used model - should I clean plates inside or on back and how to do it?

The Plates need cleaning regularly with 1/2 ammonia and 1/2 warm water. In a shallow flat-bottomed container, with enough solution to completely cover the plates, let them soak for NO MORE than 10 minutes. Rinse well, then brush both sides with a stiff brush and rinse well again. Shake off the excess water, then thoroughly dry with a blow dryer, before reinstalling. If you e-mail to miller@healthyti.com and ask for cleaning instructions, they will gladly e-mail supplemental instructions (free) beyond what Ecoquest supplies on their website.

I have a breeze AT, fan is the only one that's working, I tired to clean and visually check if there's anything out of the ordinary but nothing that I could tell, what seems to be the problem?

make sure the bulb and starter are working....do you see blue light emmissions from the inside of unit? That and the grid plate are the major players in this machine.clean plate, soak in ammonia and clean contact fingers that can get corroded including the female spade connectors for the wiring.

Plate error

the metal contactors and the wire spade connectors get pretty corroded and can cause continuity problems .i have had to replace those spade connectors and clean the metal contactors with emry sand cloth.another trick is to soak the plate in ammonia to reduce the corrosion present on the grids

Living Air XL 15, no ozone

My XL-15 had the same problem a few years ago. I had a broken wire on the fan, and the Ozone problem turned out to be a problem with the power supply. I had to send it in to have it repaired.
