I have a panasonic vdr m50. Error code 2881 appears when i switch to record.
I found this problem only when I tried to use a RW disk. The camera will not use a rewritable disk. I reformated the disk in my computer but it still would not work in the camera.
I have aprblem with my handicam. when switch on the cmara to record the vedia in dvd it will show the error has occurred. error code no.2881 please read the manual. it will be show that
I beleive it only reads the disks that have brown recordable side with gold dots and not the blue side
Me too, I think the dvd drive is shot. What a terrible product.
You need to change the file format from mpeg to dvd - download AVSvideo convertor and this will change your camcorder film to a format that will burn onto a dvd disc.
All I can tell you is that my panasonic vdr-m50 has been a pain since day 1. I now get the error code 2881 and there just does not seem to be a whole bunch of help or support from panasonic. The software is horrible. the camera is over priced. Unsatisfied seems to be the trend I have going with panasonic. I will never own another panasonic product in my life. If you like to donate money, then go with panasonic.

this is a media incompatibility error. Basically the media your using is one that is not readable by the system. Regardless of these other helpful people saying its a system update problem. If you have the manual its there:https://www.manualslib.com/manual/117438... . this will take you straight there. Cerrtainly saved me some money and hassle but not before buying the wrong discs. Hope this helps to all those M50 users still outr there.
