I turn on the computer and it loads like normal if i let it completly go to the screen saying i need a password and when i try to completly restart it by hitting ctrl and f11 it wont do anything

don't hit ctrl, f11 instead hit F8 and then go into Dell Factory Image Restore, that will wipe, format and reinstall all the factory software that's stored on the Recovery Drive (usually the D: drive) good luck.

Boot to the Diagnistics FN+POWER at boot, run hard drive diagnostics. The PBR Descriptor 2 message is part of the normal boot process (directing the boot loader to Primary Boot Recond 2, the C: Drive) but usually flashes on an off so fast most people never notice it. Since the boot process is not going past the re-direct it is indicative of a bad hdd (Since the re-image process crashed)
Most likely you are looking at a hard drive replacement.
Regardless you are going to need an XP CD (you'll have to reinstall windows or run recovery console at a minimum)

hi there u may have to ask your friend for the password,
if the password is set in the BIOS(in the computer hardware)
try removing the bios battery this will erase the hardware configuration saved on the mainboard, dunno if it'll kill the password set.
there will be no ther way iknow, perhaps <bios flashing, but this only laptop techs can do, u need extra chips and software for that, pretty expensive
if you just cannot access windows, just reinstall another copy of it and set your own password then.(you will have to install all the programs again!)

If the ctrl+f11 is not working then the there is dell default partition.. You have to reinstall the OS completely... If your computer is still under warranty call dell tech support they will replace the hard drive.... No warranty means try to get a external dvd drive from friends and install the OS to the computer
