The
key would have something printed on it ( if it is not a very old laptop )
and then when you carry out a inspection of the laptop certainly you would find the missing key (if the cat got it out then certainly you would find it)
once you find the slot either try placing the key in gently otherwise you could go to any small repair shop and he/she would fix the problem (if the problem is just the key's)

If the cat has not eaten the small plastic clips that fixes the key to the keyboard, you are in luck.
Just place the key over the keyboard, align it so it is square with the other keys, push it down firmly until it clicks into place.
If this does not work then you have some missing parts or bent piece of plastic.
If you are game, you can remove an adjoining key by lifting it up, then you can check this key and see if it matches the other key for missing or bent parts.
Your Dell supplier may have replacement keys, if not you will need to replace the whole keyboard.
