Disable wireless function

I now have wired network outlets throughout the house and no longer need the wireless function - which will increase security. Is there a simple way to disable only the wireless function on the D-Link DI-514? All help gratefully appreciated.

Many thanks. Sorry to be a little slow here, but which username and password are we talking about? Microsoft or D-Link? I don't use a password for computer access, and I can't (so far) find one I used for D-Link set-up. Thanks again. Steve

    Hello kenshin99,

I have now found the passwords and disabled the wireless function as instructed. Very many thanks.

Hi!

Disable SSID Broadcast Disable wireless function - print.gif Please visit http://support.dlink.com/faq/view.asp?prod_id=1196 for complete FAQ.

Step 1 Open your Internet browser and type the IP address of the router in the address bar. The default IP address is 192.168.0.1. At the login, enter your username (admin) and password (default password is blank).

Step 2 Click on the Advanced tab at the top of the configuration page and then click the Performance button on the left side.

Step 3 At the bottom of the Performance page, click on Disable next to the SSID Broadcast field.

Step 4 Click on Apply. Wait about 15 seconds to allow the router to save the changes and then click on Continue.

I hope that helps!

Good luck and have a nice day!

    Hi!

The username and password will be for the DLink router. By default (if you did not set any username and password when you setup the router for the first time) the username is admin , and the password leave it blank. You will be ask for a username and password once you try to accesshttp://192.168.0.1 .

Now, if it's not accepting the default username and password, you may have set a username/password the first time you setup the router (if you used the CD for the router, it will always ask you to setup a password). What you can do is to think of any password that you may have used (try your usual passwords). But always type admin as the username.

    I hope that helps.
