Uncheck the sync books box in itunes. Then try to add them manually, if this does not work try the sync again after you have uncheck the box and applied the setting.

SOURCE: I recently updated my ibooks app for the iPhone 3

This is a common bug when Apple upgraded the ibooks.
First, delete the app from your phone. Second, open itunes on your computer without the phone attached third, update all apps fourth, plug in your iphone and sync ibooks
if the above doesn't work then re-download ibooks from itunes
if both above dont work then you need to erase the ibooks app from your phone and itunes and then download the app again.
good luck!

SOURCE: Every time I try to

I had that problem, too and solved it by plugging my IPAD into my computer and updating it's software through ITunes...there have been a couple of updates in the last month and doing this solved my problem.
You first have to make sure you have the latest ITunes update and then it should find the software for your Ipad...which is actually quite a big download, so you have to be patient.
Hope this helps.

SOURCE: How do I get my iBooks back on my iPod (3rd

Make sure that you have have ticked the box in iTunes that allows books to sync once you have plugged the iPod in.

If that fails, you can also download the books again from the iBooks store. Simply open iBooks, go to the store, and go to Purchases. From there you can choose any books you have previously bought and re-download them with no charge.
