Won't create a .pdf

Did your earlier computer have Acrobat on it? That's the only way to print to a PDF, unless you have software designed to emulate Acrobat, by simulating a PDF file format.

You can try to create PDF file directly from Microsoft Word. Adobe Acrobat Professional installs a virtual printer on your computer. Print the document from Microsoft Word, but make sure you select appropriate printer from the list. It should be called "Adobe Acrobat PDF Printer", or similar.

unless you have Adobe writer, you cannot edit or convert a .pdf, .pdf is read only
Adobe writer is not a free download
You can, however, go to edit, select all, paste to wordpad and then edit and save as .doc
