Whenever I double click a Word document, I get the error message: There was a problem sending the command to the program. Only work around has been to open Word first then use the open command. I have run diagnostics and even chose the repair opetion from the disk. Nothing works.
Go to 'Properties' (right click on the program), go to Compatibility, If the program is running in Compatability mode, uncheck this option and see if that resolves the problem.
Here is how to get around your problem.
-Run regedit.exe from the command line (regedit.exe)
-Go to and delete the following: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Word\Data
Hopefully Microsoft fixes this problem soon.

First of all I take it you have an email account set up on the new PC and internet connection. Make sure the email program is set to be your default email. Take a look at Control Panel Default Programs Set Your Default Programs Highlight your email program on the left and click set as default Retry sending a document as a email.

After long hours searching solutions for this, i have finely got back my work and just in time for submission.well my problem occur when using Word 2007 so this is what i have done. :
1. Go to http://converter.tds.lv
2. Upload the docx document of yours and submit the form.
3. The result then will give you the ability to download varius file format. click the .doc file and it will download the file.
4. Open the .doc in Word 2007.
5. In my case i have got all the format and text back (but i found few text format missing/gone. Just a few though.). So it is better than nothing right?

you have to right click the file (word doc. or excel doc.) and select "open with". A window will appear that allows you to choose which program will open this file. Select word for the word docs and excel for the spreadsheets and select the option to always do this for these files types. Once the default program has been set all other files with those extensions will now open with those programs.
