Scanning error - cannot scan error code 2,155,0 ???

I connect to my laptop to scan pictures, and each time, each single time the scanner will start scanning an inch but it stops and I get the message Cannot communicate with scanner. Cable may be disconnected or scanner may be turned off. Check status. Scanner driver will be closed. Code: 2,155,0" The closest I get is it will scan one or two, but same problem persists. Today I totally cannot scan one thing! What is wrong? I've tried everything... Today I totally cannot scan one thing! What iswrong? I've tried everything... Same problem but with MP600R. Error code 2,155,0. Scanner itself must work - it produces photocopies. It must communicate with PC otherwise it would not deliver "scanner warming up" etc. on the monitor. After hearing scanner travel occuring and progress tracking part way in a box on the PC, it gives in with the error code and scanner switched off etc. message. Printing from PC works OK.

I have two laptops with Windows XP; after I replaced the harddrive on one computer and reinstalled the scanner software with the newest driver (from online), it works fine until I start the final scan. After a minute or so it just stops--no error messages, no explanation. How do I solve this without even an error message?
The only way of removing the slide holder is to turn everything off and then turning on the scanner manually--the slideholder will come out automatically. On my other computer the scanner works fine as always.
