Depends on how this humidifier operates. Most now using water in from a valve let the excess water on through the pad and down the drain and have no sump or pump because of bacteria build up (Legion Aries Disease).
Also as outdoor temp drops you need and air is only able to "soak up" just so much humidity. The air will hold more moisture at 45'f than at 25'F. And you need less humidity at these levels do do some of the same job like static electricity, and keeping wood from drying out...
