I am having the exact same problem, upon turning on the notebook, I see the blue power on light blink a few times, I hear the fan power on, and they it turns off for a second and repeats this over and over again. My problem seems to be interrminttant as it is working now(I am typing here on it) I contacted HP support and even though I am out of the warranty period, they are going to fix it for free and even pay for the shipping. It is covered under their 'Limited Warranty Service Enhancement Program '. I think it may be an issue with either the AC adapter or the motherboard. I have heard these models had an issue with getting very hot and ruining components, speaking of that my PC's wireless internet card also doesnt work(orange light on all the time) and they are fixing this as well for free.

I have the same problem with both the wireless and the powering on part.I was assuming it was a corrupted BIOS.My system doesn't really get that hot, because I keep a can of air handy to blow out the dust.I once did that and it stayed at least a good 30 or 40 degrees cooler (according to speedfan).I have already sent it to HP once already for the Broadcom networking card and it went bad again. To my knowlage, that is a BIOS problem and the newest version of the BIOS supposedly fixed it (but didn't).I managed to get it going this time after nearly a month of it not working.I'm in safe mode, and running various scans, including antivirus and SFC /scannow in the command window.Did anyones system start acting funny before it wouldn't start up? By that,I mean, did the arrow start freezing in place over and over and did you're system just stop responding almost entirely? That's what happened to me.One minute it was fine and literally the next it wasn't.

The files that you need to boot up are corrupted. You need to reload your operating system with the back up disc.
