Are you sure of the code? I don't have the exact manual for that, machine but the number seems strange. "5xx" errors are usually related to the fuser, so could be a bad lamp, thermistor, or fuse. see note to reset (if there is not a problem) as follows:

damaged, the SC can only be reset by a
service representative.
The copier cannot be operated at all.
Enter SP 5-810 (SC code reset) and
select “1”. Then hold down the Original

There is a fax module that you can purchase to be able to fax from the copier. If it is already installed, you will see two phone jacks on the rear side of the machine. One will be labeled "Line" and one will be labeled "Tel" -- if you plug a phone cord from the jack in the wall to the jack labeled "Line," your copier is all ready to fax.
On the operation panel, there should be a button on the left labeled "Fax" under the buttons labeled "Copier" and "Document Server" -- press that button to get to the fax screen.

sc546 is a fuser temperature detect error. One or both of the thermistors most likely need to be cleaned or replaced, but you will have to go into service mode to reset the code once you do that. You should contact your local service technician or Gestetner dealer, as they can easily fix that problem.
