Most likely you're having troubles with the negative sign, not the parenthesis.
Press 2 - ( 2 +/ ) =
The "+/-" key is the key just to the left of the "=" key, used to enter negative numbers.
For this problem you don't need parenthesis. You can simply press
2 - 2 +/- =
But, what if there was a binomial instead of a single term outside of the
parentheses? That is, what if a binomial was being multiplied by another
