backup your data and do a repair install - might take a while longer but at least you know it will clear any issues.

there are a number of things you can do to fix it but will most likely take a lot longer

reinstall your operating system
if you dont have cds most are on the back up of hard drive

when first boot up, press control and f10 or f11
should take you into system recovery
