Search Function I have lost my search function both from START and also when I try to search a folder. My O/S is XP Pro SP2.......IE6 I have tried the following: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer\NoFind If "NoFind" has the value "01 00 00 00" change it to "00 00 00 00" and it will probably solve your problem. You will need to restart ("log off & log in" will probably suffice). # the above HKEY does not exist in my registry?. Fix search function working by running the following commands: regsvr32 wshom.ocx regsvr32 jscript.dll regsvr32 urlmon.dll Does anyone have a solution other than formatting, my XP CD is not genuine I think, it is called LazyXP ??? and burnt to CD.

    Hi Silverdragon.
Thanks for the info and links.

My symantec AV is updated daily and a scan finds no problems.

I am thinking it is an issue with my O/S (XP)
and the fact that it is not genuine, although I
have been running it for 2 years, I also think
my grandson tried updating from SP3 from MS, he
    denies it of course.

I will read your links...........I have just
found that I cannot click the link to the softwaretips, and other links also not working
    so more problems!!
