Processor Overheating Hi, I have an Intel 3.0GHz Processor with a Desktop Board D865GVHZ. Whenever, I run Microsoft Flight Simulator X or 2004 after about 5 to 10 min. I get a message indicating Processor overheating. The processor zone temperature goes up to 69 degrees Celsius. In normal applications the temperature fluctuates between 49 to 54 degrees Celsius. Are there any experts out there who can help me with this. I have reformatted my system, installed 2GB memory, put in a new 550W power supply, changed the processor fan and also applied new thermal compound.

    Hi,

It's probably a CPU cooling problam (not related to memory, power supply).
Can the air flow through the computer chassis?
    Are the cassis fans working?
Is the processor fan and the heatsing large enough?

    Regards,
    B

It is important to use good quality thermal paste like Arctic Silver. You only need a very small amount on the heat sink. Too much is as bad as none at all. You care just trying to create a thin layer of thermal paste to fill in the tiny gaps between the processor and the heat sink. If this does not help an aftermarket heat sink with more fins and a better fan might be needed.
