It depends on the quality of water in your water supply. If you get scale buildup easily, you need to descale and sanitize it as often as each month, if scale buildup is minimal, descale and sanitized every 6 monthes. I always nickel safe scale remover and calgon sanitizer. If in doubt, consult the manufactures recommendations.
