When washing a load the error code d5 comes up. It has been happening at any point during the whole cycle. d5 means door isn't locked. So I just open it and slam it back and then finish the load. Anything I should do for the lock so it will stop interrupting the cycle?

It sound like a loose or a broken lid switch issue.
The lid switch is inside the washing machine main housing near the door frame. Often you have to raise or open the top or front of the washer to get to the switch.
