When the computer boot press F8 try to run the safe mode on the computer. Check the operating system of the computer and do a scan disk.
Start wile pressing the F8 or TAB key and select the last time your computer worked properly, otherwise try to start in safe mode and restore it the previous day. If this does not rectify it or u are unable to even get there, best option is to Insert your OS CD and boot from CD ROM. Select install, but on the same partion that your OS is loaded on. The screen will display that another version of windows already exist. DO NOT SELECT AUTO REPAIR but go ahead untill u reach the option to repair by pressing the "R" key, do so and follow the instructions on the screen. This will not cause any loss of Data or programs installed other than correct the SYSTEM FILES of WINDOWS. Hopefully one of the above should work....sodeep
