I have got a GeForce 9800GT; this one also has 1GB of DDR3 Memory. The computer crashes after a sort time when running a high graphic game like War Ham 40000, Microsoft Flight simulator X, or Older game like Age of Mythology which run’s for a lot longer on avenge before crashing the computer.

But the computer runs Program like Google earth or AutoCAD with out a hitch.

To sort this problem out so fare I uninstalled the Graphics Diver and got the latest From Nvidia web site. This happens to be the same diver that comes on the CD with the Graphics card. Version 182.08

I have had no success yet, any ideas are welcome

Its not a cpu overtemp. i got the same problem with palit 9800GT sonic. temperatures of both graphic card and cpu were checked via bios + palit softwarem non were high in any sort. i even set a high permanent RPM's for the cooling on the card and i can hear it working, but every time i go into a DIRECT 3d aplication it will crash. sometimes after 5 mins, 30 mins or 4 hours. the crash is actualyl a blank screen and u can hear the music or sound cycling in the background, sometimes for a short while, hard drive goes mental and when i tab back 2 windows, it reports of a graphic manager driver that stoped responding and recovered, but i can only run games again after i force restart. i tried NVIDIA original drivers update and even from palit website. non works. googled "palit crash" and i found out this happens with many types of chipsets, all from Palit. i play wow and this happens during boss fights , wich is irritating:S

When the computer crashes.... does it just shut off with NO WARNING?

Is your PC BEEPER SPEAKER connected and if so, does it make a very soft alarm (like an ambulance) before it shuts off.

Do you know how to check CPU temp in BIOS? Next time it happens turn the PC back on and check the CPU TEMP in BIOS.

What I am getting at here is you may have a CPU OVERTEMP condition occuring. That is a very beefy card and will generate alot of heat, and even though it will have a fan and manifold mounted to port the hot air out, you will still see an increase in TEMP inside your case.

If this is the problem, you may want to add another CASE FAN (cheap option) or if you are really keen, get an aftermarket CPU COOLER and heatsink (Recommended for any High End build).

Based on your symptoms (and without detailed information) this would be my main suspect at the moment.

If the problem is not heat related then the 1st thing to check is ensure you have latest DRIVER from nVidia Website:

I dont think this is the problem as it works for a period of time.
