I'm trying to scan and send the scan from the printer to the email. It keeps giving me an error message ''Cannot connect to SMTP server''. I have entered the SMTP server details that I use normally to send emails. The printer is connected to my home network, and I can connect to and print from the printer from my laptop. Any thoughts? Thanks, N PS I'm actually using a GX3050SFN.

To scan to email, Administrator email address must be set in the machine (any bogus email address will work too).
Also, email server address must be input as IP address if DNS or WINS is not running in LAN.

To use the scan to email function on your copier you need some settings from your internet provider (email setting specifically). Go into Outlook options and get your SMTP server, user name and password.
On your copier you need to change under User tools, system setting and file transfer and put these settings in. As long as your machine is set up for scan to folder thats all you should need.

Check you smtp server settings in admin settings. Verify there correct. If your smtp server needs your email address and password to send, that should be populated as well under them smtp authentication settings.

I'm pretty sure that the problem (though the machine indicating otherwise) is that gmail requires SSL, and the Scan to Email (server) doesn't support SSL. If this is the problem, you can easily check it out by trying to use some other mail, with another SMTP server, which doesn't require SSL.

check the server settings, maybe user authentication is needed, check from server side, what the printer is trying to do and where it fails. check printer e-mail settings, try these setting in computer.
