You may want to run Word through maintence mode to see what is going on here, if it finds any issues it will attempt to repair it.

To do this:

1. Quit all Office programs. 2. Use one of the following procedures: • In Windows XP or Windows Server 2003, click Start, and then click Control Panel.

• In Windows 2000, click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel. 3. Open Add or Remove Programs. 4. Click Change or Remove Programs, click Microsoft Office 2003 (Microsoft Office Word 2003), or the version of Office or Word that you have in the Currently installed programs list, and then click Change. 5. Click Repair or Repair Word (Repair Office), and then click Continue or Next. 6. In Word 2003 and in earlier versions of Word, click Detect and Repair errors in my Word installation or click Detect and Repair errors in my Office installation. Then, click to select the Restore my Start Menu Shortcuts check box, and then click Install.

Start computer in safe mode with networking capability (HOLD F8 while computer is starting up) -Go to you internet explorer
-Go to Tools
_Mananage Add-Ons
-Disable ALL of the add ons (You have to toggle between the two options in the drop down box)
-Once ALL are disabled, delete your cookies (Tools - Internet Options)

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.

Hi,

I think you may have an add-on that is crashing IE. Can you get into IE at all? If so - click on Tools >> Manage Add-Ons and disable any add ons. IE 7 also has a "no add-ons mode" which you can get to via Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools, and then click on Internet Explorer (No Add-ons).

Scan your PC with some ad-aware removal tools. Ad-Aware & Spybot. You can download them on another computer and save them to a disk or USB drive. It might also be worth checking Control Panel >> Add/Remove Programs to see if there's anything in there that shouldn't be.

My personal recommendation is to use Firefox in future. But make sure you scan and fix the problem, and then Immunize, with Spybot first.

Hope this helps

I had the same problem, the dead player would display the time of play and the number of a song that wasn't on the player. I would get the dreaded Buffer Overflow when I tried to fix the player, I had another same player that worked so I used "My Computer-Drive letter-properties-Tools-backup" to backup the good empty drive and then restore the corrupted drive, the file was about 14K in size. It worked like a charm.
