How to acsess the boot device menu at post on abit il8 motherboard

.Abit did not add the BIOS post to the manual.

Watch the BIOS post, most all motherboards have the hot-key menu at BIOS post.

If for some reason the hot-key is not reported on BIOS post, then you hit the DELETE key and enter the BIOS, Advanced BIOS Features Setup Menu and set what hardware you want to boot first, under Hard Disk Boot Priority, set First Boot Device

Abit as8 post codes 21

Hello here is the homepage:

http://abit.ws/page/mi/download/download_driver_detail.php@pFILE_TYPE=Driver&pMAIN_TYPE=Motherboard&pTITLE_ON_SCREEN=AS8&pSOCKET_TYPE=LGA775

Post code 21, is a memory/ chipset problem.

It could be a problem with a ram module, or a Pci sound card or a graphic card. or powersupply.

Try to remove any add in cards, and try to boot with only one stick of ram.

Good luck

Have an abit bd711. when I start up the computer i sometimes get an alarm tone, and other times I do not. Not sure what it means.

You're Abit BD7II-RAID MB has many bios settings that could bring about the sound you are hearing.
See page 3-23 in you're manual. (Resume by Alarm)
Most of the settings on page 3-23 are used for power savings. Also see page 2-10 section (13). U27: POST Code Display. When you hear the alarm tone check the MB's display U27 for it's code.
I'll post a site where you can download a small program called Speccy that can monitor the temps in you're system; http://www.piriform.com/speccy/download
This can help if there is a heat problem with a device within you're system. At this time I don't feel you have a CPU problem.

Good luck!
