So I was trying to get my Shuttle cube computer to work with the TV by VGA to RGB connector/converter. I get it all hooked in and everything but it won't show up on the screen. I take it out, hook it up to my computer screen (VGA to VGA) and nothing comes up on that screen. Last I checked it worked. So now I'm assuming theres something wrong with the on board VGA input. But I'm not sure since I have not gotten into VGA in my class yet. Can anyone help me?

Oh and since then something on the computer has been making a really high pitched sound. I'm guessing its a fan though.

Sometimes you need to have the computer off before hooking up such a connection so the video card can identify the screen being used when the computer is first turned on.... also maybe incompatible with the adaptor

Some TV's don't have a VGA input. S-Video cable is more common. Look on the back of your computer an see if you have an S-Video jack. If you have a TV compatible output on your computer, such as an S-video jack, just take an S-video cable and connect it to your computer and your TV. If you do not, then attach your VGA end of your adapter to your computer and use the RCA, S-video or Component Video cable to attach to your TV. After you've made all the connections, make sure you are on the correct TV video input. Press the input button on your TV or remote until you see your computer's signal.

That blinking cursor is the way in which the BIOS is telling you that Windows or any other OS is missing . Since you are getting it without even an hdd connected it means that the southbridge is defective. Which means that the motherboard is dead, replace it.

Check if you VGA is properly settled in the PCI slot. Try to take it out, clean the slot for dust.
If that doesn't help, it is well possible that you VGA is not working any more.
