The asterisks stay in the display and the "READY" state is never reached. The printer was working fine until netware was disabled and the printer re-booted.
My Xerox DocuPrint N40 several times jamed first. But it made this broken gear noise after I took out the last jammed sheet. I removed the tone cartridge and the fuser to see if I could see any broken or damaged gears. I found none. I put all the parts back and shut the door, no noise started. One minute later I looked at the screen and saw "Sys ERR OU476 Power Off & On" on the display screen. I restarted the printer. First a single * appeared, then followed by several * in a row and then it returned to the "Sys ERR OU476 Power Off & On" with the Online & fault lights on as well as a blinking Data light. My Xerox DocuPrint N40 several times jamed first.
