i had the same problem with mine it's just that you playstaion is broke you need to have a new one i know why don't you ask for one like i did thing about it somthing good comes out of it you get to have a new playstaion

Jerry Lee, I am sorry to tell you this, and I know its not a good answer. I have had three wireless controllers on my PS2 in the past and will never buy another one cause the things are a piece of you know what. I could get them to work for a little while, but never more than one at a time. If you can take it back and get a refund, is the best solution. There is very little you can do to get this thing to work. I ama Electronics Specialist and I hate this kind of answer. it is the best thing to do though. Honest man.

Does it make a clicking sound as it tries to read the disk?
I had the same problem and it turns out that it is the console. But it is easily remedied. I cannot take credit but follow this link and you will see it is an easy fix.

SOURCE: My PS2 controller port stopped working!
Sounds as if it has been dropped .....or an impact to the controller port while one was plugged in. in some cases the in side of the port can become full of dust and dirt causing light rusting creating a loss of connection ...but an impact can break a small chip on the back of the controller port inside the machine , try cleaning out the controller port and check to make sure the metal tabs are clean and un bent.
