SOURCE: packard bell 6700 outer cover removal

I would suggest going to the Packard Bell Support web site then select your country followed by selecting your model of computer which will then give you access to any available documentation to help you with upgrading memory etc.

Testimonial: "Steve sorry!! I posted the wrong info it was a desktop p/bell 6070 not a 6700 thanks anyway, ps do you know how to remove the side panel off the p/bell 6070 to get at the memory? thanks again"

I was changing the bearing, and when I went to remove them they fell out leaving only the outer shell, which I have been unable to remove. Can someone help? Please!

find a friend or a shop that has an impact puller ( slide hammer)
fit the fingers of the puller so that they expand out when adjusted into the groove in the bearing. use the slide hammer and knock the shell ( outer race ) out

How to remove washer lid to replace lid lock

Remove power to the unit.
Locate the console and remove two phillips head screws. Most
models have them in the front, bottom of the console. In some of the newer models they are located in the back, bottom of the console. Some washers require you to remove two end caps on the console to access the screws.
After you remove the two screws, slide the console slightly forward and then up. The console will then hinge to the back of the washer.
With the console now hinged back, locate the lid switch harness.
Disconnect the harness and check for resistance between the 2 grey wires (outside) on the lid switch connector connected to top of washer. With the lid down the circuit should read no resistance. If the circuit is open(infinite resistance) then the switch needs to be replaced. You can also use a insulated jumper on the lid switch harness to determine if its the switch.
To replace the lid switch you will now have to remove the cabinet. Use a flat head screwdriver to remove the two clips holding the back of the washer to the outer shell of the washer.
Disconnect the lid switch harness(If not still disconnected).

You can now pull the outer shell away from the washer. Do this by
grasping the outer shell (I open the lid and grab it there.) and tilt the shell forward (toward you) and out. The shell is now removed and you can see the tub. Be careful not to bend the outside walls of the shell when removing and setting aside. This will help greatly when reinstalling the shell. Remove the 2 screws attaching switch to cabinet. Remove the screw connecting the ground on the cabinet. Use a flat blade screwdriver to push tabs on lid switch connector block to remove. Finally remove the whole harness from the 2 remaining retainer clips under the cabinet. Install new lid switch harness assembly and reassemble washer.

Samsung HT-F5500W fan ng message even when the fan is spinning.

I removed all the screws out the back and took the outer shell off. Be careful removing the outer shell because of the wire connecting the touch pad to the system. Once off, unplug the fan unit and completely remove it. I let the system stay in this condition for around an hour. I returned to it and blew off all the dust on the fan (extremely small amount of dust for two years of use). I plugged the fan back into the system and reinstalled it to it's original position. Replace the outer shell back to the system and reinstall the screws (be careful not to put too much torque on the screws). I have had no more issues with my fan since and it's been two weeks. I hope this helped.

When the washer runs on final spin cycle I hear a banging sound within the unit. As the spinning increases in speed, the banging is extremely loud and unbearable. What would be the problem?

1 or more springs are broken or fell off.

If it is by chance a 2000 or 2001 Sears front load washer (Electrolux), the outer shell likely failed where the springs attach to keep the outer shell and inner wash tub suspended.

If you remove the lower panel, and look underneath and see one or more springs laying down on the bottom of the cabinet, look around to see if you can spot the end of the spring. Sometimes the ear that breaks off these will still be attached to the spring. The ear cannot be glued. The outer shell "could" be replaced, but the time investment makes complete replacement of washer the only cost effective solution in that situation.

If by chance the springs simply popped out, they can be re-hooked to the ear they came out of with some effort and careful pushing of the outer shell.

The handle can only be changed by separating the outer and inner shells of the door. You can pull the outer shell off the inner shell by removing the three screws at the end of the door and then using firm force to pull the shells apart. It helps to gently pry along the bottom, top and inside (nearest the hinges) with a thin flathead screwdriver or other very thin metal object. You don't have to get it all the way loose; just a little is fine. You can then use the two clasps on the back of the door (that hold it shut when it's closed) to pull with. I found that inserting a slim screwdriver into the lower clasp and using that as a handle (not a lever!) gives you a better grip. Hold the outer shell of the door with your left hand while pulling the inner shell in the opposite direction. Be carefull not to twist or bend the clasps; they are plastic and will break. The shells will pull apart and then you can access the screws that hold the handle. Change the handle then press the door shells back together. Make sure they are snug all around. Replace the three end screws and you're done.
