What processor can i use with 446476-001 system board

The HP 446476-001 laptop motherboard, or also stated as HP motherboard used for the HP Pavilion dv6000 series of Notebook PC's;

A) Has an Intel 965PM motherboard chipset,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Intel_chipsets#Core_2_mobile_chipset

Has a;

B) Socket P processor socket, for Intel processors

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Socket_P

Using this information you know;

1) That the Intel PM965 motherboard chipset supports
Intel Core 2 Duo processors,

with either a 533MegaHertz Front Side Bus, or a 667MHz FSB, or an 800MHz FSB.

[Note*

The motherboard chipset is the Northbridge, and Southbridge chip, for YOUR motherboard technology.

(Does not apply to motherboards that support the Intel Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, and Core i9 processors)

The Northbridge part number is Intel 82965PM.

You won't see this part number on a chipset, because the Northbridge chip is under a small finned heatsink.

The Southbridge chip is an Intel ICH8-M
Part number is 82801HM. This you should see on a chipset ]

2) That the processor socket is a Socket P.

So you need an Intel Core2 Duo processor, with either a 533MHz, or 667MHz, or 800MHz FSB, and fits in a Socket P processor socket.

For additional questions please post in a Comment.

(You may, or may not need a BIOS update )

Does the MB support an Intel Prescott 3,06 ghz fsb 800mhz processor?

that is a socket 478 board. it supports northwood and early prescotts. prescotts at 3.06 with the 800mhz fsb were made in both socket 478 and lga 775 forms, so you have to make sure that your processor is indeed a socket 478 model.

You have a socket 754 motherboard. That socket had been in use for just 2 years over 5 years ago. Obsolete.
Get a new  AM3 socket one and a new processor.
