When i try to type in the search bar only numbers display.. no letters

When you hook an external keyboard to it, does it type normally? I am guessing it probably does but you need to test that first. Find a USB keyboard, hook it to it, wait for it to start working and check it out.
If the external keyboard types normally as I think it will then you probably need a new keyboard. If however your computer was damaged by moisture or unnatural compression to the keyboard, a new keyboard may not fix it. Moisture damage or compression damage to the computer can be permanent, but my first guess is a keyboard would do the trick.
Taking the keyboard off a Lenovo (less than 4 years old) is very easy. There about 4 or 5 screws on the bottom that need removed and the wrist rest (which pops out) then they keyboard comes out pretty easy.

Your computer uses Onboard graphics(Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) 4500MHD) which means the GPU is embedded into the motherboard. The problem is most likely to be the GPU as you have predicted. If your laptop is under warranty you should push for a replacement as opening it will void your warranty. However if its out of warranty then you will need to remove the keyboard to access it. Check for bad connectors from the video card. Unplug the connectors wipe them with a cloth and then plug them back in. Power up and see if it resolves the issue.
NOTE: TO AVOID DAMAGING THE BOARD COMPONENTS WITH ESD AN ESD WRIST STRAP IS MANDATORY FOR THIS FIX .

SOURCE: keys are not working correctly on key pad
It may be that you have NumLock on - these function represents a KeyPad on the Letter Keys - usually the U,I,O,P,[,J,K,L,;,M kEYS are replaced with numbers - to switch on/off you should have a key with Number Lock on it possibly abbreviated to NumLck or NumLK etc - activate that Key - may need to use in combination with the FN key as well to toggle the Number Lock on and off - also often a light appears to show its ON

OK, if you have a Password, why are you entering a PIN? They are two different ways of authenticating you as a valid user. You should not select the option to use a PIN. Use your Password or Network Key.
