I HAVE YAMAHA RX-V640RDS, WHEN I TURN ON MY YAMAHA IS EVRYTHING OK AND ALL CHANELL WORK GOOD. WHEN I TURN OFF OR MIX INPUT CHANELL EXAMPLE>TUNER TO DVD< I HEARE NOISE FROM SUBWOFER, THAT NOISE IS VERY LOUD AND MEAN SUBWOFER IS BROKE BUT ISNT, I BAY NEW AND WORK THE SAME LIKE OLD.
Turn the power amplifiers off first and on last. Your problem will go away.

Disconnect the unit from the mains at the wall socket. Leave powered down for 5 mins to ensure a good reset and turn unit on again and see what happens. If there is still no life. Check for failed fuses inside amp. ALWAYS RELACE FUSES WITH THE SAME RATING AND TYPE.

The system is most likely in "protect" mode. This means that a problem was detected and the output section has been disabled to prevent further damage. The most common failure is of the output transistors. Figure about $15-$30 in parts plus the local labor rate for a repair.

Hi, yes it is possibe, but you are going to have to buy a stereo 2.5mm jack to 2 phono lead. Connect to headphone socket on laptop and the other to a line input on amplifier and adjust setting to suit.

If the unit has sat that long chances are capacitor replacements are in order, overtime they deform until they become unusuable and can rupture when power is applied.
