TOC stands for Table Of Contents. It is the beginning track on the inside of a CD and tells the player how many tracks there are, how long they are and when and where they end. If a player cannot read this information, it cannot read the CD.

Toc err. And 05 when Trying to play CD .

Are they commercially made CDs or something someone made themselves? The commercially made ones - especially older ones may not have confirming ToCs. Home-made ones most likely don't have ToC - unless they were done with pretty sophisticated software. Some Car CD players have settings to ignor or display ToC, check your user manual or the manufacturer's web site.

Toc not writing

I was going to note that when you first turn the MD recorder on is when it will write the TOC for the disc - so even if you turn it on and press eject, it is smart enough to write a TOC first, then eject the disc. Good find on the battery loss.

Sony mdm-x4 when I load a disc it shows me blank disc, before that TOC reading. how can I get my record back?

You cannot remove power from a minidisc player after you are done recording as it updates the TOC when you power down. If you had switch set to timer "REC" and power up the unit it should update the TOC, otherwise all is lost.

When i inserted my mini disc it said TOC Reading then said Toc Error and C14. What is the problem?

Sounds like you lost power when you were finishing recording a disc. On a home unit it got unplugged before you had the TOC written, or on a battery unit the battery died when it was writing the TOC (table of contents) for the disk.

Table of Contents TOC 4 appears with heading numbers in bold which I don't want. TOC 1, TOC 2, TOC 3 & TOC 5 are all okay

You can easily modify the formatting for a TOC. You will need to replace the current TOC - I'm assuming you are using the built-in reference to create your TOC.

Select Insert / Reference / Index and Tables. Click on the "Table of Contents" tab.

Click on <Modify>. Click on "TOC 3". Click on <Modify>. Click on the Bold icon to unselect the Bold attribute. Click on <OK> three times.

TOC ERRORa

When you FINISH recording, the Minidisc recorder Writes the TOC (Table of Contents) - so you see it flashing TOC or Update when you finish recording - you need to Leave POWER ON and have the unit on for about 30 seconds for it to finish this. IF you don't, the unit doesn't know where to find the files since there is no TOC. Try a Sony home unit - you might get one more shot at it working with that.

What does toc err mean?

TOC is table of contents. Typically if its on a recorded cd try burning a cd from antoher computer and try it, if it works its most likely that your burner or software or ccd's your using are bad. Also is it a MP3 disc your trying to play? If so then you MUST burn it as a MP3 cd. You cant just burn MP3's to a CD and it read them. If this is the case thats why you are getting the TOC error because its not writing to the CD whats on the CD on the TOC area of the disc.
