You will need to remove several screws on the bottom at the back and then gently pry off the cover around the back top of the laptop. under that will be three screws holding in the key board

I have a compaq presario r3240us laptop. when I turn it on it starts beeping . when i press the esc button it stops beeping. on the screen it shows "PXE-E61 Media Test Failure check cable. exiting PXE rom
Sounds like a ram chip, they can be found on the bottom under the ram access door.

Sometimes one of the ram chips are under the keyboard.

Where is the internal battery located?

Unresponsive key board
Most notebooks have touch sensitive pads or switches underneath the keyboard, unlike a normal keyboard which is less complicated. You can try and remove keyboard and check underneath, but it may be that the circuitry that works certain banks of keys is damaged or shorting. Not a job for faint hearted i would recommend a qualified repairer.
