I had the phone for about two years, I unplugged it for about two months when I moved.
Since turning it back on, the LCD screen is all scrambled, so I can't make out the caller id info, or anything for that matter.
Is there a reset feature, or is there a way to fix the LCD ???
Other than that the phone works ok, the wireless set's LCD is working fine.

Do you have a dial tone? Do any other phones show caller id? do any other phones ring? Have you programmed the phones? Really need more information in order to help.

unplugged the phone and took the batteries out for 1 minute and it reset itself...then replaced the batteries and plugged the phone in..no more problems

I have this same problem with two Uniden cordless phones (one on the handset, one on the base unit), as well as with three calculators and a Dymo Letra Tag label maker. Removing batteries doesn't change anything. Mine went scrambled while batteries were still in.
Have same issue with LCD screen scrambling on base phone and cordless. Had phone around 2-3 years when displays started scrambling...
Any fix or just live with it???
I have the scrambled LCD display on both the handset and the base. And, my speaker on the base is not working properly also. Any suggestions. I have followed all the steps as recommended in the manual for solving these problems.
We merged two households two years ago and put the AT&T 1480 in a box. Now we need it but can't find the manual. The handset appears to have charged overnight, the display is visible but needs to be reset. However, there's no dialtone as it doesn't seem to be connecting to the base (which is 4 feet away at the moment). The Base has no LCD display and has a dial tone but only dials by rotary ... without the manual, I'm lost. Any suggestions?
