Have searched several discussion boards for an answer, perhaps someone here might have some ideas. I am trying to run Sierra Home Architect 4.0 in Windows 7 (I know it's incompatible). The initial problem with the software was solved by deleting the MSVCRT.DLL file which allowed the program to run. I can access the Designer Rooms Library and manipulate those but cannot save changes or re-name and save them. Years ago, I had to keep a blank design on my desktop, copy it, rename it, then file/open from saved designs. When trying to access "Getting Started" or "Start with a Blank Design" I get the message "Sierra Home Architect has stopped working" and it crashes. I have tried the option to run programs made for previous versions of Windows (every one from 95 through 2000) but still get the same error. Has anyone found a way around this?
If this is happening on the same computer I would say you have a corrupt file on your hard drive that is causing this. Reinstalling your operating system would be the first step. Before you reinstall you should do an Fdsk which will wipe out everything, so back up your files. You will also need a start up disk if you do a complete wipe out. Your computer will not be smart enough to start up without a start up disk.
