A prefix is the beginning part of a word that contains a root word, such as restart, re is the prefix to the word start, a suffix is the end of a word containing a root word like started, start being the root word and ed being the sufix , I have kindly answered your question, ly is the sufix to kind, if I were unkind and just laughed at you, I would use the prefix un added to the root word kind,,,, see how that works, pre is before and suff is the end
