E04 MESSAGE KEEPS APPERING. HOW DO I REMOVE IT AND OPEN THE DOOR

JVC GR-SXM260U Camcorder. When I turn this device on it pops up w/mesage: EO4 remove battery and reattach. The manual states to wait a "few minutes" and then reattach battery. It will not eject tape nor will it record/play in this mode. Tha manual is useless. It tates "if the problem persisits. contact a JVC dealer". When I have called a few dealers, all they can say is I sell them not fix them, JVC is doing a big disservice to thier customers w/this. It's a good camcorder when it was working.
