Depends on your system, install modem first then the system should ask for drivers. Make sure your dial up modem drivers are appropriate to your operating system. Try the modem in a different slot, some modems are not compatible with some motherboards. If the My Computer/System/Device Manager can't see the modem, you have to try another modem or slot. Then install or Update drivers once the system sees it and will show Properties of it.

Hi, Please let me know what operating system you are using. Then go to your control panel and click on the modem icon (looks like a telephone). Please let me know what modem it says that is set up on your computer. Then press the properties tab and let me know what com port it is set up on. Do you have a modem that is built into your computer or do you have an add on card. Do you have any installation disks? Finally for now, please let me know what brand name computer you have, or if it's a homemade one. Thanks, Hank
