SO, I called after reading all these comments..bottom line, without a receipt proving I purchased in the last 12-18 months, the only thing She could do was give me a discount on a new one..for like 73 bucks..
Pleasant associate, but was not able to repalce it. Screw it, I'll go with another brand.

No, they will not replace it without a receipt proving you purchased in the last 12-18 months.
They offer a discount rate on a new one, at 73 bucks.

The error refers to a faulty motherboard or heating element. There is no fix but Kitchen Aid has been replacing this defective model but if you decide to go for another model fine

since they will not replace it without a receipt you can go for the discount since its a factory defect i believe its being taken care of in the new one

This is my second KCM534ERO with the ill fated ERR2 code. This time we went in and discovered that the thermal protection switch was the culprit. The electronics are fine, but the thermal proptection switch remains open. The switch is manufactured by Inter Control from Germany, unit 155431.071 according to a customer contact is only available from KitchenAid. We all know where that gets you. I am still looking for a replacement.

I have a solution, don't ever buy their garbage again. My second coffee pot was garbage and they wouldn't do anything for me. Nice..
