I need to know the codes for my remote to turn my tv by it insted of using the vcr to change the chanel
If you dont have the codes for a philips universal remote you have to press code search and TV at the same time till the led light stays on. Then press the power button a few times untill the power turns your TV off, then press the OK button. After that the code should be in the remote.

I did as suggested by doing the following:
Pressed CODESEARCH until light stayed on
Pressed VCR/DVD
Pressed CHAN + until channel changed on player
Problem: Tried to power off, device did not turn off,,,
Tried pressing VCR/DVD to save code no such luck,,,

Try "auto search" with your remote. Normally you press the tv button and the "OK/Select" button simultaneously for about 3 seconds until the tv light burns steady. Then press "channel up" one press at a time until the tv turns off. When it turns off, then press "power" on your remote and if the tv comes back on, test the other functions such as volume and mute. If all functions work, then press the "tv" button one more time to save the code and then you are "in business". If functions do not work, then continue to press "channel up" until the tv shuts off a second time. Then press "power" and test all functions. Continue repeating this until you find a code that enables all desired functions. Hope this helps.

Generic programming codes for Philips Universal Remote (this will work with almost anything) is 9999. Hold down the button for the item you are trying to set up (i.e. dvd, tv) and once the light blinks twice enter 9999.
