Yeah, you can, even more, in case you are looking for a nice cat tree for your kitty, I think that you'll fell in love with the ones you'll find after you click here. I can't relate to you how happy are my kittens after this purchase. You will be surprised how happy your cat will be if you'll bring these tree to your place, he is gonna get crazy and make a lot of funny stuff.

I re-roped my scratching post. Get 3/8 sisal rope. The hardest part was getting the post off the base and wrapping the rope tight. You will need a staple gun. Round staples are best but I think you can work with flat ones. Only use them at the ends and bury them well.

SOURCE: : I bought a scratching post for my cat. How do I train him to use it?

My answer is definitely the catmint route. If you have time, patience and space, try growing catmint from seed and take four or five fresh leaves to rub on things/areas you want your cat to scratch.
Ordinarily you can huy dry catmint which you can also rub on catpost. But, rub it on one side only, and in a smaller area, lower on catpost, then rub all around the post higher up.
You have to be a little sneaky with cats because they can be quite fussy.
