Testimonial: "This is an air handler… the condensing unit nameplate is completely unreadable and I’m going to do a push pull on the system. I do have other means of sizing the new equipment I was just hoping someone could tell me what the ton rating and seer were on this specific air handler because I cannot find other product information."
Air handlers are still measured in BTU of COOLING capacity. Air Handler 14,000 Btu's = 1.5 Tons
So if yours is 16,000, doing the math it would be 1.71 tons, but this says 1.33, so I am not sure.

I also found this, so your replacement for 18,000 BTU would be 1.5 tons, which gives you a marginal improvement.
18 = 1.5 Ton.
24 = 2 Ton.
30 = 2.5 Ton.
36 = 3 Ton
42 = 3.5 Ton.
48 = 4-Ton.
60 = 5-Ton
