Difficult to answer definitively without knowing 'make and model'.
The volume on a talking scale can be adjusted using a switch on the bottom of the scale. For example, the My Weigh Vox-24 scale has a switch on the bottom that can be used to turn the talking feature on or off, and to adjust the sound level to either high or low.
