I have a Dell Demension XPS T550 which has a broken CD drive that I'd like to replace, I can get the cover off (looking at the tower from the front it's the left hand side of the case that I've removed) and have removed the two screens for the holding the drive in place. However are there not screws on the opposite side of the drive cage that would need to be removed also.. How do you get at these screws.
I can't seem to find the original service manual that I received with the computer when I purchased it in 1999.
Your help would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Steve
Remove the two screws on that side of the case on the back and then pull back on the panel It should slide back and off, The screws should be there where you can get to them. If that don't work there may be a tab inside by the drive you can push the button and the hole drive cage will turn out on a hinge, I hope that you can get them out now.

No hinge just a single screw holding the drive cage to the chasis.. Had to disconnect the cables and remove the entire drive cage to get at the screw on the opposite side of the busted cd drive to remove it.
New dvd drive installed back in business..
thanks
