Similar Problem CDROM Drive won't show up in the BIOS as an attached device either.

If it is a SATA drive, check the manual of the motherboard for SATA options/configuration in BIOS.
If it is an IDE drive, I suspect a bad configuration.
Set the jumper in CS (cable select) mode. You may connect it to the primary (end) or to the secondary (middle) connector of the IDE cable. Be sure there is no other drive on the same cable. Turn on your computer and verify if there is any changes in BIOS.
If the drive is not seen in BIOS the cable or the unit may be damaged or incompatible with your computer.
If the drive is seen in BIOS turn the computer off.
Now, you may add any other drive (if any) on the remaining connector on the same cable as it follows :
- set the jumper as Master or Cable Select if you connect the drive to the primary connector (end), or
- set the jumper as Slave or Cable Select if you connect the drive to the secondary connector (middle).
