Press nav + power; then change the numbers 00 in 95 by using the joystick and and then press the joystick itself; accept what proposed.
after turning the gps on again and pressing enter the NAND will be configured and your gps will become in order again. if necessary, in usb file transfer mode, reload the basemap in the directory background maps
clean completely the memory with the secret command 95 as I wrote, then turn the 500 on and press the joystick when it asks you to "press enter to configure NAND". it should configure in two seconds and it should start regularly. it happened so to me in more than one occasion. no file transfer mode

I have the same problem. The screen reads "Press ENTER to configure NAND...Press ESC to cancel". When I press either one of those buttons the unit shuts off.
pippokid: You've given me some hope, but when I'm in file transfer mode and click on the background maps folder, there's nothing in it. I must tell you I am new to handheld gps, I just received this unit and know very little about the operation.
