I cant initialize disk, I/O Device Error How can I restore hard drive as new from factory

This problem to an i/o device happens mostly when itz defective/faulty..
check the following:
1)is ur m/b compatible..check with a substitute/standby..
2)if ur hdd is making any humming noise (like 'tic tic' or 'kirr kirr')..if so it is likely to be replaced..
3)replace the data cable with a standby n see..
4)all the power connectors n data cables r properly sitted n connected..
5)update/flash the bios..
6)check for firmware update and or raid drivers (as applicable)..

if u r not a professional, try contacting ur system admin/vendor....

Try to set the jumper of the hard disk in a way that will be compatible with your computer.

Enter your system setup by pressing "F8", wait till a blue back ground opens, search for device, you will find about four different drives, make sure they are all set to auto, you will also see the size of your hard disk, but if you can't find it, press "Auto". If it still does not show. Then probably it is not well connected. So you will have to check your IDE Cable and make sure it is well fixed.
