Date/time needs to be set every time camera is turned on...! Can't download pictures (tried using Windows wizard and nikon transfer), same result ....

In most cases this is an indication of some sort of water/liquid damage on the board.
Or a "memory cap". on the board needs to be replaced

---- This is a problem many Coolpix S710 owners have had and many have had a defective internal battery (it keeps the time and date). To see if yours is defective, fully charge the main battery, put it in the camera and let it set with the power button off for 24 hours. Try to set the time and date and see if it holds. If not, the battery needs to be replaced by a service center or just live with setting the time and date each time. ---- As far as the transfer of pictures, I would first reset all options to factory defaults and see if that clears the problem. If not, another answer would be to use a card reader to transfer your pictures to your PC by just copying them from the removable drive (the card) and pasting them into whatever folder you wish.
