Modems audio, and network cards are notorious for not being recognized by Windows. If you have an EXE file for install, insert the disc, and click on install. You may need to okay the installation. If this does not work, and since the computer is not recognizing it, I would go to Control Panel, then find Hardware manager. Your modem should be there with a yellow icon over or by it. Right click on it, and select install driver. Then navigate to the disc, and then select the INF file for it.

When I restart my computer I get a found new hardware message. Asking to download the driver for the 2Wire USB Remote NDIS Ethernet, or put in the installation disc. Do not have the disc anymore please help me to find the driver I need. I have 1000HW 2Wire modem. It seems that until I make this change, I cannot properly sync my Palm Pilot. Could that be true?

The drivers are located on the 2wire website. You need to go to support > downloads > Gateways > 100/1000. Those drivers will work for any 2wire gateway that has USB.
