Hi this to do with the cups that move into position when the print head is in the home position.
When the print head is in home position there are two rubber cups that move up and cover the heads to stop them drying out.
What can happen is the motor or drive gears the move them down can shift, there is a small screw that hold this motor in position andsd this can come loose so when the heads try and return to their home position the rubber cups are in the way causing a carriage jam.
Or they could be causing the carriage to slow down enough for the printer to detect a problem.
Unfortunately there is no easy way of gettin into this machine. the scanner has to come off, then the covers unscrewed, controll panel unclipped then the bottom platic cover unscrews to give you access the these rubber cups.
