Are you referring to a password? If so, what OS does the notebook run? If it's Windows XP or above you will need the password from whoever created it. Otherwise you will probably have to reformat the computer or you need to find Password Removal software.
Ophcrack 3.3.1 (LiveCD 2.3.1) is the software I recommend for removing the Windows XP Admin Password.
Is the BIOS locked? If this is the case, Each Dell Inspiron has a
master password which will clear the BIOS password. You can get this
number by calling Dell Tech Support at (800)624-9896.
Is it locked it in BIOS or in Windows? If it's locked in BIOS, you will need to open up the laptop and locate the jumper and remove the CR2032 battery from the motherboard.
If it's locked in Windows, you would need to re-install Windows again to reset the password.
But if it's locked because of the product key code, then you will need to call up Microsoft automated telephone line. Just have the internet access ready.
